All Natural Electrolyte Punch

Updated: 5 days ago

Hydration isn’t just about drinking more water — it’s about helping your body use that water. When you sweat, train, or simply drink a lot of plain water, you lose minerals that keep fluid balanced inside and outside your cells: sodium, magnesium and potassium - aka electrolytes. These support energy, muscle function, focus, and overall fluid balance, making them essential as water intake increases.

When you eat real food like fruit, vegetables, broths, leafy greens, coconut water — you naturally take in electrolytes. Most days, that’s enough. But when you’re sweating more, drinking more, or feeling a little depleted, topping up can make all the difference. If you need a simple, natural boost, this mix delivers exactly what your cells are craving.

Ingredients (1 litre)

  • 600 ml Filtered water

  • 300 ml Raw coconut water

  • 50 ml Fresh lemon juice

  • 50 ml Natural pomegranate juice

  • ½ tsp Natural sea salt

  • 1.5 tbsp Raw Honey

Method

  1. Add the filtered water and coconut water to a large jug.

  2. Stir in the lemon juice and pomegranate juice.

  3. Whisk or shake in the sea salt until fully dissolved.

  4. Add the honey and mix well until it blends smoothly.

  5. Chill or serve over ice. Shake before pouring as natural ingredients may settle.

This recipe works because each ingredient adds a specific electrolyte, antioxidant, or absorption‑boosting benefit — together creating a naturally balanced, highly functional hydration mix.

  • Coconut water provides a naturally occurring mix of potassium, sodium, magnesium, and calcium — minerals essential for muscle function, nerve signalling, and fluid balance, and shown to support recovery after heat or exercise .

  • Fresh lemon juice contributes vitamin C and gentle acidity, which can enhance mineral absorption and support antioxidant defences.

  • Pomegranate juice is a great source of potassium and contributes polyphenols that help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, complementing hydration by supporting overall cellular health.

  • Natural sea salt restores sodium — the electrolyte you lose most through sweat — helping your body retain and use the fluids you drink effectively .

  • Raw Honey brings more to this drink than sweetness. Unlike refined sugar, which is pure sucrose stripped of all nutrients, raw honey contains over 200 bioactive compounds, including enzymes, flavonoids, phenolic acids, and trace minerals. These compounds remain intact because raw honey isn’t heat‑processed or heavily filtered, allowing it to retain its natural antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Research shows that honey provides a gentler, more sustained release of energy because its glucose and fructose absorb at different rates, avoiding the rapid spike‑and‑drop effect of refined sugar. The natural sugars help the body absorb electrolytes more efficiently.

Together, these ingredients create a clean, efficient electrolyte profile that hydrates more effectively than water alone, without the additives or artificial sweeteners found in many commercial drinks.

For busy days, travel, or workouts, clean, low‑sugar electrolyte sachets are a smart backup. Watch out for nasty additives and make sure they contain the right composition. Most electrolyte sachests and drinks in the market can do more harm than good. This one is my go-to.
